Our new AI-driven goals save leaders hours of time with hyper-accurate models to predict performance. We’re making it easy to get goals right and get everyone aligned.
As any successful coach will tell you, setting good goals is critical to setting the right expectations and creating a winning culture. On the other hand, setting the wrong goals can be demoralizing and severely hurt performance. Leaders need to create a path to winning, and employees need to know what success looks like. When frontline employees understand their goals and can track their progress in realtime, they almost manage themselves. When this happens, we see managers turn into coaches— giving praise, offering encouragement, sharing best practices, making adjustments, and ultimately, building winning teams.

Most customers let Pathlight take the lead and automatically set individual goals. This automation can be based on the team performance, or on an individual’s past performance. Let’s dive into these different options in more detail.

With Auto Goals, organizations can put Pathlight in the driver’s seat and streamline the goal-setting process. Pathlight can automatically set realistic or stretch goals using artificial intelligence that is constantly updating based on the most recent performance data. Auto Goals are a bottoms-up approach where Pathlight determines an individual's goals, and then rolls them up to the team, department, or company level. Pathlight now offers two different models for Auto Goals.
(1) Based on peer performance
Put simply, Pathlight uses the average performance of everyone on a team to set the frontline employee’s individual goal. Zooming in a bit more, we leverage a slightly more complicated algorithm to control for the variability of the team by discounting extreme highs and lows (or outliers). This intelligent design allows employees to easily benchmark their individual performance against their peers while setting realistic expectations for everyone on the team.
(2) Based on historical individual performance (NEW!)
Leveraging the rich history of individual performance data, Pathlight can automatically personalize goals. Using a combination of intelligent forecasting and a configurable growth multiplier, leaders are able to let Pathlight set targets to guide individuals to achieve more. If there isn’t enough history, it uses peer performance data by default. This method creates very personalized goals and pushes individuals to grow and achieve their personal best.

We all think Auto Goals are great, but sometimes managers want to make adjustments for different teams, or individuals to better reflect their performance. Pathlight offers a variety of flexible methods, including automatically syncing in goals from other systems, for fine-tuning the goal-setting process.
