One of our cultural values at Pathlight is Shine A Light— it means that we encourage one another to bring our authentic selves to work and to be transparent with each other. Shining a light can also look like putting the spotlight on people who deserve recognition or things that deserve acknowledgement.
With Thanksgiving coming up, what better time to shine a light on all of the things that we are grateful for? Pathlighters— from San Francisco to Nashville to Toronto— took a moment to share a few things they are thankful for this year:
Growth
“I'm grateful for a life-changing 2021. This year I got married, my wife and I are expecting our first born (a daughter!) in the next few weeks, and I started a new career at Pathlight.” — Brian Mohr, Technical Support Manager
“I’m thankful for being encouraged to push the limits of my comfort zone. I have been actively practicing this over the past few years and it has led to unique experiences and opportunities that I typically would never find myself in. Almost all of these have had extremely positive outcomes and prove to myself that I can thrive in unfamiliar environments.” — Josh Witty, Marketing Operations and Analytics Manager
“I am thankful for all the change this past year has brought. I am in a really different place than I was a year ago and a big part of that is starting a new job!” — Jilian Porath, Recruiter
“I recently moved to San Francisco a few months ago. As an east coast native (born and raised in Maryland, went to school in NYC), it was definitely a pretty big transition. But having such a warm group of coworkers and friends here has made the adjustment process much much easier.” — Rishub Nahar, Product Fellow
Health
“I am grateful to work together in an office, after the long period of WFH, without compromising each other's health. Thankful to Pathlight for keeping our office safe and for taking care of each other.” — Kyu-Han Kim, Staff Software Engineer
“I'm thankful for my health - health is wealth!! And I’m thankful that my kid is able to attend school in-person, ie not virtual!!” — Haemi Chong, Senior Executive Assistant
“Incredibly grateful that we have vaccines and we're able to travel and visit friends and family!” — Janelle Raney, Chief Marketing Officer
“I'm thankful that all my friends and family are safe and healthy in this particular year.” — Ashley Chew, Implementation Analyst
Pathlight
“The fact that I get to work— from home— and enjoy such amazing flexibility and freedom within Pathlight's culture has been phenomenal, and honestly, a dream come true!” — Ashley Rowe, Technical Support Specialist
“I'm super grateful for my coworkers who keep me sane and share in all the craziness of a typical day. I'm grateful I have the flexibility to incorporate the things I love into my work, making work truly enjoyable.” — Ted Lyon, Technical Support Specialist
“I am always incredibly grateful for our customers— their support and thoughtful feedback continue to help us build the best possible product. It’s been great getting to know our champions better over the course of the last year and partner with them to drive their success.” — Alexander Kvamme, CEO
“I am thankful for working for such a great company that embraces the concept of bringing your true authentic self to work.” — Aubrey Rositano, Mid-Market Account Executive
“With all that's going on in the world right now, I'm so grateful that we have an amazing workplace and culture that helps motivate me to work on our impactful problems.” — Vivian Qu, Senior Mobile Engineer and Manager
“I'm grateful to work in a role I love, with people who are always willing and ready to help, forming a team whose mission is to empower people.” — Santiago Sánchez, Lead Solutions Engineer
“I'm thankful to have a great workplace with a team and company that motivates me, even when we can't all be connected in the same way we used to be. I'm thankful for the flexibility to work in a way that fits my needs. I'm thankful to have an exciting team of coworkers that celebrate and challenge each other.” — Matt Behrens, Senior Site Reliability Engineer
Family & Friends
“I'm grateful for my parents and all of their support! And my teenage boys for keeping me super grounded.” — Janelle Raney, Chief Marketing Officer
“I am so grateful that my grandmother lives with me. I know a lot of people had a hard time being isolated from their grandparents and struggled with not being able to connect with them during the pandemic. I am forever grateful that she was with us when the pandemic started so that I could keep an eye on her and make sure she was okay, as well as make sure that she didn’t feel isolated.” — Eknoor Kaur, Software Engineer
“I'm thankful for my children, who give me a reason to keep going every day.” — Paul Harper, Senior Software Engineer
“I'm grateful to have a family and friends I can always count on, no matter how close or far we are, and that includes my two pups. I'm grateful I'm able to write these words after an awful pandemic, and that most of my loved ones can still read these words.” — Santiago Sánchez, Lead Solutions Engineer
Nature & Animals
“I am grateful for beautiful Northern California and the amazing nature we have at our fingertips every weekend.” — Evan McConnell, Mid-Market Account Executive
“My boyfriend Spencer and I are so thankful for and proud cat parents of our cat Potato. Also, Covid has reminded me everyday to be thankful for my health and pushed me to appreciate nature and the outdoors even more.” — Stephanie Rogers, Senior Product Manager
“This year I feel especially thankful for my three senior wiener dogs; they are my best friends and greatest teachers. They make me laugh out loud every day and we are so connected. I know when they're excited, when they're anxious, when they're feeling protective or playful— and they know me inside out as well.” — Mallory St. George, Employee Experience Manager
“We had some amazing opportunities to do some light traveling and plan long weekend adventures: we visited San Diego, Carmel, Yosemite, Tahoe, Santa Barbara and Chicago.” — Brian Mohr, Technical Support Manager
“I'm thankful I live near some amazing natural places that I can appreciate and explore.” — Paul Harper, Senior Software Engineer
And the list could go on and on… there are truly so many things to cherish and be grateful for this year. All of us at Pathlight wish you and yours a wonderful Thanksgiving full of delicious food, family, friends, rest, and replenishment.
